Do I Qualify?

The goal of the Franklin Lindsay Student Aid Fund is to help students attending Texas colleges and universities obtain low interest funding for higher education. In order to apply for their first loan, students must meet certain qualifications, which are listed below.

Depending upon the specific needs of the individual student, qualified students are allowed to borrow up to a maximum of $6,000 per semester, up to $12,000 per academic year (fall to spring). Students who continue to meet the qualifications may apply for renewal loans until the total of all their Franklin Lindsay loans reaches $48,000.

Student loans are granted at the discretion of the Loan Committee and based on the availability of funds as well as the following criteria:

  1. You must have successfully completed a total of twenty-four (24) hours of college credit.

  2. You must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for undergraduate studies and 3.0 for graduate studies.

  3. You must be classified as a full-time student, twelve (12) hours for undergraduate studies and nine (9) hours for graduate studies.

  4. You must be pursuing a degree (certificate programs, for example, do not qualify) at a private or public nonprofit Texas-based college or university that has been accredited by the Commission.   https://www.sacscoc.org
